A Special Counsel in Greenwoods & Herbert Smith Freehills’ Melbourne office since 2011, Tim specialises in income tax, especially as it relates to financing, projects and mergers and acquisitions, as well as GST.
Tim began working in tax at a major national law firm in 1985. His extensive experience includes advising private sector and government clients in Australia and overseas on takeovers, debt and equity raisings, restructurings and infrastructure projects. Tim joined Greenwoods as a Director in 2005 from Freehills (now Herbert Smith Freehills), where he had been a partner in the tax group since 2001.
Tim is a current National Councillor of the Tax Institute and a member of the Law Council of Australia’s Tax Committee. A Senior Fellow and Advisory Board member of the Melbourne Law School Masters program, he holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) degree from the University of Melbourne and a Master of Laws from the University of London. He is admitted as a legal practitioner in Victoria and Australia.
