As a Director and the Head of Financial Services at Greenwoods & Herbert Smith Freehills, Andrew advises banks, large corporations and stapled groups on tax issues relevant to a range of transactions. These include capital management, structuring offshore groups and investments, infrastructure and asset finance transactions, stapling arrangements, private equity and inbound investments.
Andrew is recognised as an expert in relation to both the taxation of financial arrangements and controlled foreign company provisions. He has advised the Board of Taxation and Treasury and has represented various industry bodies, including The Tax Institute and the Australian Bankers’ Association on the development and reform of these provisions.
A regular speaker at industry conferences, Andrew holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from the University of Durham in England. He practised as a tax lawyer with a large UK law firm for eight years before joining Greenwoods in 2004.
