Adrian O'Shannessy

For 25 years Adrian has advised public and private-sector organisations on domestic and international tax planning, M&A and finance. Adrian's key practice areas include tax litigation, corporate dividend and capital returns, debt capital raising, employee equity plans, managed funds and superannuation.

Adrian has advised on many significant transactions including most recently National Australia Bank’s 2016 sale of MLC Limited to Nippon Life and creation of Australia’s largest retail superannuation fund.

Adrian worked at a major accounting firm and was a partner at Freehills (now Herbert Smith Freehills) before joining Greenwoods as a Director in 2005. He now consults to the firm.

Adrian holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Melbourne and a Postgraduate Diploma in Taxation from RMIT University. He is a Fellow of The Tax Institute and lectures in the Masters of Law course at the University of Melbourne. He is admitted as a barrister and solicitor in Victoria.
